Guidelines for Volunteer Applications
We are looking for people who support our mission, and want to take part in this exciting event, Japan Day @ Central Park 2011. Please note that everything you contribute to Japan day will be on a volunteer basis.
[Our Mission]
- Build bridges of cultural understanding between the people of Japan and the U.S.
- Show the local Japanese community’s appreciation toward their home city, New York.
- Facilitate stronger connections within the Japanese local community.
Volunteers are needed in the following categories
①Food Tents Assistants
②Activity Tents Assistants
③Visitor Information Assistants
④Site Cleaning
[Job Descriptions]
① Food Tents Assistants
- Set up cooking areas (set tables, cooking instruments etc.)
- Kitchen assistant (cooking, cleaning, restocking supplies etc.)
- Crowd control (manage lines and speed of service, etc.)
- Clean up (cleaning up the service stations and cooking utensils)
② Activity Tents Assistants
- Set up activity tents (set up tables, equipment, etc.)
- Activity assistant (support tent activities and supply equipment )
- Crowd control (manage service speed, form lines)
- Clean up (clean up stalls and equipment etc)
④ Visitor Information Assistants
– Set up and assistant Welcome Tent
– Guide visitors through the venue as well as greeting at the welcome tent (handing out programs, etc.)
– Assist in communication between the venue and headquarters (injured people, lost children, lost/ found items etc)
– Support participants (Performers, tent staff and volunteers) at the check-in & help distribute lunch boxes
⑤ Site Cleaning
– Picking up garabage on site
– Control Trans cans at the site(exchanging trash bags, etc.)

[Requirements]
1. Be punctual on time and flexible enough to follow instructions. Please note that there are two shifts available (A: 8:30am-13:30pm or B: 12:30pmam- 5:30pm,) and call time is 30 minutes before each shift begins (*subject to change depending on the volunteer categories)
2. Submit Release and Waiver of Liability by the deadline. (**All applicants are required to sign the Release and Waiver for Liability form. [Volunteer Orientation]
Japan Day Volunteers are required to attend a Volunteer Orientation. It is planning to be held in late April or early May. More detailed information will be announced later in April.

Please choose an application form below (Individual or Organization), fill out the information and submit online.As limited openings are available for volunteers in each position and shift, it is advised to apply as early as possible. When the number of applicants meets the enrollment limit, each position and shift will be closed.
