☆Accepting applications for Food & Activity Tents and Stage Performers☆
We are looking for people who support our mission, and want to take part in this exciting event, Japan Day @ Central Park 2012. Please note that everything you contribute to Japan day will be on a volunteer basis.
Our Mission:
- Build bridges of cultural understanding between the people of Japan and the U.S.
- Show the local Japanese community’s appreciation toward their home city, New York.
- Facilitate stronger grassroots connections among the local Japanese community.

Participants are needed in the following areas:
1 ) Food Tent Organizer
2 ) Activity Tent Organizer
3 ) Stage Performer
1 ) Food Tent Organizer —– To qualify, applicants must:
A. Be able to provide approximately 2,000 meals for distribution.
B. Be able to bring your own tools/equipment that are also suitable for Park Regulations. (*No uncooked food, no cooking over open flame, and electronic cooking onlywith the exception of microwave ovens. There is no fridge or freezer on site. The space and location will be determined by the Park administration. )
C. Be able to provide a tent manager as well as providing at least half the number of staff you will need.
2 ) Activity Tent Organizer —— To qualify, applicants must:
A. Provide activities that are easy to actively participate in. 
B. Be able to supply goods or materials needed for the participation of more than 500 people through out the day.
C. Insure that all elements and materials used in the tent and activity are suitable for use in the Park. (*Please be aware that there are no electrical outletsinthe Park. The space and location for each tent will be determined by the Park administration.)
D. Be able to provide a tent manager as well as providing at least half number of staff you need.
3 ) Stage Performers —— To qualify, applicants must:
A. Have more than 5 years of performing experience either individually or as a group.
B. Have performed in public at least 3 times, either individually or as a group.
C. Be able to provide supporting materials indicated in the application form. (*Supporting materials must meet the application deadline.)
D. Be able to adjust the length of performance as well as a number of participants. (I.e. Martial Arts, Music performance with Japanese traditional instruments, Dance, and etc.)
** Please note that there will be no monitor system on stage, and only a limited number of microphones.
**Due to the Park restriction, there is no sound check or rehearsals at the venue for any stage performances.

Announcement: Chosen applicants will be contacted via mail or e-mail in early April.

*1) If you are applying as a Stage Performer, please send all supporting materials as well as the Material Agreement by the deadline. Detailed information about supporting materials are on the application form. The application will be complete only after we receive all the supporting materials and Material Agreement. Please note that all supporting materials will not be returned.
*2) Please not that all participants in these categories are required to sign the Release and Waiver of Liability form. Accepted organizations and performers must download this form here for each individuals, read it carefully, sign it, and send it to Japan Day @ Central Park 2011 Project Liaison Office.
