Japan Day's activity tents include a variety of fun and family-friendly Japanese activities, while our food tents offer free samples of mouth-watering Japanese cuisine.
Japan Day is currently seeking for organizations and groups who are interested in participating as an activity or food tent organizer on a volunteer basis. The event is expected to be held at the Bandshell, Central Park. The date is yet to be determined but is expected to be in May 2017, and we will announce the date on our website as soon as it’s set! Please note that not all applicants can be selected due to the space limitations of the venue, the event budget and the Park regulations. Please see below for the details:
1 ) FOOD TENT ORGANIZER
----- To qualify, applicants must:
a. Be able to provide approximately 1,500 meals for distribution.
b. Be able to bring most of your own tools/equipment to run your tent that are also suitable for the Park regulations. (*No uncooked food or cooking over open flame is allowed. Electronic cooking must be discussed and approved by the event general manager and the Park. The space and location will be determined by the Park administration.)
c. Be able to provide a tent leader as well as at least half the number of staff you will need to run your tent.
2 ) ACTIVITY TENT ORGANIZERS (Japanese Cultural Experience)
------To qualify, applicants must:
a. Be able to provide activities that are family-friendly and easy to actively participate in for all ages.
b. Be able to provide a tent leader as well as at least half the number of staff you need to run your tent.
c. Be able to supply goods or materials needed for the participation of more than 500 people throughout the day.
d. Ensure that all elements and materials used in the tent and activity are suitable for use in the Park. (*Please be aware that the details of your activity need to be discussed and approved by the event general manager and the Park. The space and location for each tent will be determined by the Park administration.)
