BULLET TRAIN RIDE

East Japan Railway Company

We will promote both the world of the “Shinkansen” Bullet train, a symbol of Japan's high technology, and the attractive charms of Japan's northeast Tohoku region, a “hidden gem” of scenery, history and culture. You can experience the view from the train driver's seat in our Shinkansen simulator and a video showing the beauty of the Tohoku.

This calligraphy workshop provides visitors with an opportunity to write their names or favorite words on a piece of paper with Japanese black ink, “Bokujyu."

Providing a very unique Kabuki-influenced painting design on participants’ faces.

SUPER CONDUCTING MAGLEV

Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central)   

Visitors will see new video footage and a model of the latest Rolling Stock “Series L0 (L zero)” Super Conducting Maglev train. In collaboration with TOMY Company, Ltd., there will also be a display and demonstration of the "PLARAIL" toy, the #1 Japanese toy train brand, as well as the "Linear-liner" toy that actually levitates over the rail.

For participants across all ages and ethnicities, our experienced teachers show you how to craft from beginner to intermediate levels of origami models. There is also a section where you can fold and donate origami models.

Demonstration of how to play the traditional Japanese board games Shogi and Go. This tent welcomes beginners through advanced players.

Challenge yourself to catch a “yo-yo” balloon from a small pool before your paper hook breaks! Children experiencing this typical summer festival activity can take home a colorful water balloon on a rubber string as their prize.

Awareness/Breast Cancer & Cervical Cancer

An OB-GYN will be presenting the importance of women's health through a small talk discussing how often women should routinely get examinations. There will be fun crafts for the kids like pink ribbon face painting and Misanga creations. In addition, we will have Konica Minolta presenting one of the smallest ultrasound devices for everyone to be familiar with. In the afternoon, a yoga instructor will demonstrate stretches you can do every day.

Visit the ITOCHU-TABLE FOR TWO special edition ”Onigiri Action” tent on Japan Day and receive Rice Ball (Onigiri) samples made with Tamakimai. Recipients post photos of onigiri via social media with the hashtag #OnigiriAction. ITOCHU International will then donate five school meals per photo submitted to provide healthier school meals to children in New York.
